![]() ![]() ![]() Yet in Luke 17:31 His return is mentioned as being during the day. When Christ returns, it will be instantaneously. Luke 17:24 ''For just as the lightning, when it flashes out of one part of the sky, shines to the other part of the sky, so will the Son of Man be in His day.'' Now compare Matthew 24:27 with Luke 17:22-37. ![]() ''For just as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so shall the coming of the Son of Man be.'' In Matthew 24:27, the return of Jesus Christ at the end of the tribulation is described as follows. The scriptures are clear concerning a spherical earth. If they thought it were flat, how come there is no mention of people being afraid they would fall off? I've seen no concern of animals falling off either or the mention of water running off of the earth.I was asking about evolution on another thread and some person kept saying that the bible said the earth is flat, but I never read that in my Bible. ![]() There is no doubt IMO that the Bible indicates a flat Earth. "Who stretched a measuring line around it?" How do you stretch a measuring line 'across' a sphere? If the author knew that the Earth was spherical he would have written. Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it?" "Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand. There are also quite a few biblical verses that describe the Earth as having 'ends' or 'edges' which a sphere does not have but a two dimensional flat shape does. The word they did use, "Chuwg", describes a circle shape something like a plate or a coin. As far as I am aware there was no specific word for 'sphere'. If the shape of the Earth was known to the authors, 'Duwr' is the word they would have used. "He will surely violently turn and toss thee like a ball (Duwr) into a large country: there shalt thou die, and there the chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord's house." The Hebrew word for a ball was 'Duwr' and that word was used on other verses in the Bible, Isaiah 22:18 for example: If the Bible authors really did know the shape of the Earth they would not have used the word 'Chuwg'. The Bible writers weren't saying the earth was flat, they were saying that it's round. lolĪnyway, you mentioned that a circle is flat. Same reason we in the US don't slide down. ![]()
